Britney Spears Case May go to Trial

Although her comeback looks like it’s well underway, it looks like Britney Spears may be headed to trial next month - for driving without a valid license.
Brit’s lawyer said the matter is set to be tried before a jury due to unfavorable “special treatment” by prosecutors and a judge. But don’t expect to see Spears in and out of court (a la Paris Hilton). Because the violation is a misdemeanor, Spears is not required to attend the trial.

Her attorney has repeatedly argued that the singer is being treated more harshly than other people under similar circumstances. He said under normal circumstances, Spears should be allowed to pay a $10 fine and not face criminal prosecution. He said Thursday that Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James A. Steele cited Spears’ celebrity status during an in-chambers meeting as a reason for not reducing the case to an infraction.

If the case begins as scheduled on October 15, her lawyer said he doesn’t plan to present any witnesses or do anything more than make opening and closing arguments to jurors.

“I’m just going to sit there,” he said. If Spears is convicted, he said he will appeal that judgment.

Gwyneth Paltrow Goes Black Before Heading on the Road Again

Gwyneth Paltrow was back at home in London yesterday after some time on the road traveling through Spain for a special, “Spain…on the Road Again,” which premiers next week. She went out to Harry’s Bar in support of Jemima Khan for Azzaro Spring Fashion Launch.

Her all-black ensemble was classic while still incorporating some of the latest fall trends. We love her 3/4 sleeve military-inspired pea coat and the mini-shift dress makes this especially appropriate for evening wear.

The black tights go well with her menswear booties, which finishes off the outfit with a very hip touch!

London Fashion Week got underway today so hopefully we’ll be seeing more of Gwyneth!

Kate Middleton Looks Pretty in a Costume

Prince William’s girlfriend, Kate Middleton does a pretty good job of opting for royalty-worthy clothes in her day-to-day life, but a girl’s gotta take a break!

She headed to the Day-Glo Midnight Roller Disco at London’s Renaissance Rooms with friends (that alone sounds like a blast!).

But we’re also loving her event-appropriate outfit. It’d be ridiculous as an actual fashion decision, but it definitely works for a Roller Disco party! I love the sequined top (paired with jeans and black heels, this might be able to be pulled off as an actual party night top!), the short shorts, and knee high boots with pink socks. The mish-mash of color and funky reflects the fun atmosphere of the night.

Katie Holmes’s Broadway Debut

Nearly 100 people lined up outside the theater where Katie Holmes was making her Broadway debut - but they weren’t all well-wishers! About 30 Scientology protesters also showed up to voice their opinions about the stars’ religion.
They stood behind a barricade and loudly chanted “Scientology kills!” Some wore masks like in the movie “V for Vendetta,” and one poster read: “FREE KATIE.”But that wasn’t the only drama - Katie performed on Broadway (in Arthur Miller’s All My Sons) for the first time and drew out a number of Hollywood stars. Hubby Tom Cruise was in the crowd, of course, along with Dustin Hoffman.
“All My Sons” centers on businessman Joe Keller (John Lithgow) whose factory supplied defective cylinder parts to the military, resulting in the deaths of 21 pilots during World War II. Yet it was his business partner who went to jail for the mistake.

Dianne Wiest plays Keller’s wife; Patrick Wilson his idealistic son; and Holmes the son’s fiancee and daughter of Keller’s disgraced partner.

Can Justin Timberlake Save Jessica Biel from Failure?

Though Jessica Biel spent the better part of a decade hopping from one successful project to another and has three films awaiting release, she is dipping her figurative toe into the music world.

But rather than sincerely immersing herself in the new undertaking, it sounds like Biel has essentially handed off the majority of the work to melody mastermind Justin Timberlake.

He was the one who encouraged her transition from in front the camera to the recording studio, and he’ll no doubt be the one to bump her to the top of the charts.

“Justin’s written and produced the best part of an entire album for Jessica,” AngryApe.com quoted an insider as saying.

In addition to practically penning his girlfriend’s musical debut, “…he’s provided backing vocals on most of the tracks…” as a way of ensuring that his fans become her fans.

Meanwhile, Timberlake hasn’t released an LP since 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds. By the time Jessica’s album drops, another year will have slipped past. When can we expect some fresh material??

George Michael Arouses Loo Attendent!

It seems like poor old George Michael cant enter a public toilet anymore without arousing more than suspicion of what his intended activities will be while in the W.C.
An over zealist loo attendant in London’s Hampstead Heath was clearly aroused by the presence of George and called the police, and probably the media, to let them know that the former WHAM! Star was in the building.
George has openly admitted to using marijuana in a BBC radio 4 interview, so it comes as no surprise that he was found with a small amount of the drug in his possession on September 19^th while using the public bathroom which is located about about a mile from his £5 million mansion in Highgate village, north London.
George, 45, was allowed to walk away with just a caution after he accepted full responsibility for possessing an amount of cocaine and cannabis. It is believed Michael was only carrying a small amount of the Class A and Class C drugs.
A police spokesperson told the media, “He was released and no further action will be taken.”

The reunited New Kids On The Block held their first concert in 14 years at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Thursday.

When asked about the group’s first concert, singer Danny Wood said: “It was beyond anything I can describe. If there is anything that can surpass living a dream, it is right now.”

The crowd liked the show. In fact, one fan got so excited that she threw her bra right in John McIntyre’s face (!), according to online reports, that is.

Lindsay Lohan Turns Down Playboy?

Lindsay Lohan may not be too discriminating in her choice of partners, but she apparently has some scruples… well.. some recently aquired scruples. Apparently, according to ShowBis reports, Lindsay turned down an opportunity to pose for Playboy..

The Star of Mean Girls (not to mentioned her nearly illiterate blog) was apparently approached by Playboy magnate Hefner to be exposed for the 55th anniversary edition of the Playboy Mag.

The proposal followed some fairly… provocative … photos taken for New York magazine earlier this year.

“If there’s nudity, the answer is no. She’s not going down that road again,” a representative for Lohan responded.
